Is Paycheck Stats a government site?
No. Paycheck Stats is an independent reference site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the IRS, the Social Security Administration, any state or local agency, or any payroll company.
Is this tax advice?
No. Nothing on the site is tax, legal, payroll or financial advice. The figures are estimates for information only. Check your own paycheck with your employer, and ask a tax professional about your own situation.
Why might my paycheck differ from the estimate?
Your paycheck depends on details the calculator cannot see. The most common reasons for a difference are:
Your employer may use a different withholding method or round differently. Benefits, retirement contributions and other deductions change taxable pay. A second job, a spouse's income, bonuses or commissions change the tax rate. Living in one state and working in another, or a local tax the calculator was not told about, changes state and local tax. Rules can change during the year.
How reliable are projected figures?
Projected figures are labeled as projected wherever they appear. They are worked out from the rules in law before the agencies publish the final numbers, and they can change when the official figures come out.
What do the statistics describe?
Official statistics describe groups, not you. Wage percentiles describe employees in a state, price levels describe a whole state, and survey figures carry the margins of error the agencies publish.
